I don't like their 'monthly updates' system, for the same reason I was against it when they first proposed it to us. The purpose of monthly releases is to force the DEV teams to release what they have and not get stuck on a cycle of 'Just one more feature' but it fails at that phenomenally. Not only do features get left out because of feature creep (the vehicle overhaul of 1.5/1.6/FINALLY 1.7) and other features get broken because of hurried implementation (Commando being sub-par, Rifles outclassing all other Light Weapons, Swarm Launcher bugs, Vehicle Booster Bugs, Vehicle weight bugs, I can go on), but we STILL don't even get our 'monthly' updates. We don't even get the damn patch notes in a timely or orderly fashion. We have all the negatives of both update methods, and NONE of the positives. And if the DEVs really need a monthly deadline to constrain their feature creep, the ONE, reinforce the damn concept and actually follow through, and TWO, you have pitiful self control.
I much prefer the Valve system. They release updates at key parts of the year (Winter Holidays, Summer Vacation, Halloween, any time their primary market has a lighter workload) and also random updates we have no idea are hitting until Valve decides they can't wait for the next holiday (TF2's 2Cities update, DotA 2's New Bloom Festival, etc). They have had plenty of time to test the features, and let the community test them and give feedback before they potentially poison their game with an overpowered feature/introduce a vestigial underpowered PoS. Plus, they aren't afraid to patch their game. I have to download one, maybe two patches DAILY for TF2, one every other day for DotA 2. This may be abit much for a PS3 game (Valve itself never patches the console versions of TF2 because the console makers wanted to squeeze them for cash), but at least patch this thing on a weekly basis. EVE works on a similar schedule, with a huge update every Fall and a few major updates throughout the year with minor bug fixes in the interim.
Shields as Weapons
Zelda Dynasty Warriors is a real thing.
